Delhi Police Detain Reporter While Covering  Protest 'Beef Party'

Taken to Parliament Street police station in New Delhi and detained for seven  hours, while covering ‘Beef Party’ at the headquarters of the BJP on Ashoka Road. His visiting card was torn and identity card damaged. He was threatned with cases under various sections of the Penal code and forced to write an apology.  The protest was against the killing of Mohammed Alhlaq on 29 September by his neighbours for allegedly eating beef. Earlier, reporters who had gone to Dadri to cover the visits of VIPs to the bereaved family, where chased by village women and their equipment damaged. The ToI reporter was hit with a stone, while the vehicle of the NDTV crew was damaged.
