    1. Dushyant Dave
    2. Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India
    3. Dushyant Dave is a defender of free speech. In September 2012, when the Supreme Court declined to lay guidelines for media coverage of trials, but enunciated the Constitutional principle that those facing trial could seek postponment of reportage (at the discretion of the courts), Dave objected saying it would help the influential accused. "I would characterise the judgment as one of the worst that the Supreme Court has delivered on constitutional provisions,” the Hindu quoted him as saying. We thank Mr Dave for his generous financial support. (Photo is courtesy of Bloomberg TV).

    1. Harish Salve
    2. Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India
    3. Harish Salve is defender of free media, subject to a few restrictions. Appearing before the Supreme Court in April 2011, when it was exploring the necessity of framing guidelines for media coverage of court proceedings, Salve argued that media freedom must be balanced against the right to dignity and reputation of a person facing trial. But he said that the media should be free of government regulations, except reasonable censorship. We thank Mr Salve for making a generous contribution to FMP.
