The media itself was part of the crackdown story. In fact, long before the August 28 crackdown, Republic TV vilified Sudha Bharadwaj on the basis of the incriminating letter that she had allegedly written. And once five activists had been arrested from across the country, other sections of the media too had no qualms in toeing the police line. One of the arrested persons is a journalist, Gautam Navlakha, and two more were raided in Hyderabad.
